Hi, I’m Marykate Foran (she/her), a Counseling Intern at Begin Within Therapy. I am currently pursuing my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Roosevelt University and expect to graduate in Spring 2027. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from St. Xavier University. I was born and raised on the southside of Chicago and have always felt a strong connection to the community.

I have experience working with individuals across the lifespan, with a particular passion for supporting children, adolescents, and young adults. I enjoy working with clients as they navigate anxiety, depression, life transitions, trauma, behavioral challenges, emotional regulation, self-esteem, and the many challenges that can come with different stages of life. I believe every client brings their own unique strengths, experiences, and perspective into therapy, and I strive to meet them exactly where they are.

My approach to therapy is warm, compassionate, and collaborative. I work to create a safe and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel comfortable being themselves, expressing their emotions, and exploring the challenges they are experiencing. Together, we can build coping skills, strengthen self-awareness, develop resilience, and work toward meaningful growth and healing. My goal is for each client to feel heard, valued, and empowered throughout their therapeutic journey.
