Emily Brennan, MA, LCPC
Emily Brennan (she/her) is a licensed clinical professional counselor (LCPC) in the state of Illinois. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Education and worked in a variety of capacities within the community for over ten years. During this time, Emily observed an increasing amount of unmet social and emotional needs of both children and families. This motivated her to continue her own education in the field of mental health. She received a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology with a focus in trauma. Emily has specialized training in dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, domestic violence, substance abuse treatment, Theraplay, sensory processing, crisis intervention, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), and trauma-informed care. She is also certified in Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health through the Harris Institute.
Emily’s therapeutic approach is to help clients create change by identifying personal strengths, examining the mind-body connection, and
reflecting on individual needs. She generally uses an attachment-based lens which puts an emphasis on how early connections and experiences play a role in daily life. Emily has extensive experience working with children that exhibit emotional and behavioral concerns. Within her work with children, she has experience with providing support for families, teachers, administrators, government agencies, and community members to create a safe network for all. She has also presented at a number of conferences on the topic of trauma and the impact on children and families.
Emily sees children and adults seeking individual and/or family therapy to help address a variety of presenting problems including depression, anxiety, substance abuse, feelings of unworthiness, stress, ADHD, neuro-divergance, women’s mental health, emotional/behavioral concerns, and parent/caregiver support. Emily strives to build a collaborative relationship with clients in order to create safety, healing, and growth.
