Kayla Tilkes is a Licensed Professional Counselor at Begin Within. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience and Psychology from Loras College and her Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Governor’s State University. Kayla works with clients of all ages struggling with a variety of reasons such as anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, grief/loss, stress, social behaviors, and self-esteem/self-worth. She has a special interest in working with athletes, those struggling with performance anxiety, and those struggling with chronic illness. She strives to create a safe and non-judgmental environment to build a strong therapeutic alliance and help each client feel empowered. Her counseling approach uses multiple treatment modalities like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic, and mindfulness as well as uses a variety of different approaches and interventions to help growth and healing. She is Phase 1 Brainspotting trained and incorporates that as one of her interventions.
