My name is Kelly Prendergast and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). My experiences range from young adolescents to older adulthood. I have experiences working in both residential treatment facilities and outpatient programs. I have worked with substance abuse, eating disorders, mood disorders, self-esteem, anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, grief/loss, codependency, trauma, self-harm, and suicidal ideations. I have completed my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Governors State University and am currently completing my clinical licensure to become an LCPC. I have completed LGBTQ+ Clients: Queer Affirmative Strategies to Address Sexual and Gender Identity training.
My passion is to help others feel empowered and confident in creating their own change in their lives. My goal in therapy is to create a safe and nonjudgmental space in which the individual feels safe to be vulnerable and gain healthy coping skills to promote healing and growth. Seeking counseling can be scary and overwhelming and this courageous first step you made is a step that will allow you to heal and grow in ways that you never thought possible.
I work in the Mt Greenwood location seeing clients in person Monday-Wednesday and via telehealth on Thursdays. I can be reached at kelly@beginwithinchicago.com or 312-292-9672.
