Counseling Services

  • Couples & Marriage

Your first session you will come together as a couple, and then your counselor will meet with each of you individually in order to get a complete picture of your reasons for coming to counseling and an understanding of the dynamics of your partnership. From an attachment- based perspective, each person has a history they bring into their relationships, so it is important to understand how your past impacts your present. We use a combination of the Gottman couples method and emotionally focused therapy to help you reach your goals. After the initial assessment is complete, we will then meet with you as a couple to begin working together on any identified issues. Ideally, sessions will be weekly at first.

Couples seek counseling for a variety of reasons, some are currently in a crisis, while others are hoping to be proactive in establishing or maintaining a healthy partnership. Some of these reasons include: a “tune-up” in communication, wanting a more satisfying partnership, parenting issues, resolving conflict around an identified issue or issues, extra-marital affairs, sex issues, and/or impending separation or divorce.

  • Individual Counseling

Your first session will be primarily for information gathering to learn about the reasons that bring you into therapy. Thereafter, we will work together to establish your goals and decide on the most effective treatment to meet those goals.

The most common reasons we see people for individual therapy are:
    Adoption & Foster Care.
    Anxiety. Attachment Issues. Birth Trauma.
Depression. Infertility Loss. Medical Trauma. Parenting. Postpartum Trauma .
    Women’s Issues. Post-divorce Recovery

Begin Within Therapy Services offers compassionate, evidence-based care for life transitions, mental health, and relationships. Licensed clinicians provide personalized plans in a welcoming, nonjudgmental setting, prioritizing client safety and practical tools for lasting growth.

  • Children & Teen Counseling

Therapy for children and teenagers is intended to meet the minor client where they are in development, emotionally and mentally. The therapist works with the child by building rapport, fostering trust, and encouraging healthy adjustment to life’s many twists and transitions. This often includes nontraditional interventions alongside talk therapy, such as play, art, games, movement, and other creative approaches. Common presenting issues include emotional dysregulation, recent loss or grief in the family, divorce or a new marriage, and developmental neurodivergence. If you think your child might benefit from individual therapy, or if you have any questions about what that process might look like, reach out to our intake team today.
